Great Cumbrae Bob Cap

Great Cumbrae Bob Cap- This hat gets its name from the Isle of Great Cumbrae in Scotland. It is the larger of the two Cumbrae islands located just off the west coast of Scotland, in the Firth of Clyde. It covers an area of 4.5 square miles and has an 11 mile circular coastal road which is popular with cyclists. Great Cumbrae has been inhabited since the end of the last ice-age and currently has a residential population of approximately 1380 people. However, its population substantially increases during the summer tourist months due to the high proportion of second homes on the island. A car ferry connects the island with Largs, in Ayrshire, on the Scottish mainland. Great Cumbrae is home to the National Watersports Centre, the Cathedral of the Isles and the University Marine Biological Station in Millport. The island also has an 18-hole golf course. In addition, there is a vast array of wildlife to be seen including, owls, polecats, rabbits, golden eagles, seals, basking sharks, porbeagle sharks, dolphins and a vast array of seabirds.
