Islay Bob Cap
Islay Bob Cap
Islay Bob Cap – This hat gets its name from the Isle of Islay in Scotland. Islay is the southernmost island of the inner Hebrides and is often referred to as 'the Queen of the Hebrides'. It is the 5th largest Island in Scotland (239 square miles) and boasts an impressive 130 miles of coast line. Islay is home to a population of over 3,000, a quarter of which speak Scottish Gaelic. There are 8 active distilleries on the Islay and malt whisky distillation alongside agriculture and tourism are the main industries on the island. Islay is also very popular for birdwatching due to its huge variety of rare birds such as the corncrake and chough. There are also large flocks of wild geese which visit the island every winter (October-May).
